The Real Tea on Social Media Platforms for Your Business
Written by Myra Ann Elizabeth Uber on Apr. 29, 2023
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the countless social media platforms available to promote your business? Do you feel like you're just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks? As a social media strategist, I'm here to spill the tea on which social media platforms are worth your precious time and energy.

First things first, let's talk about the big kahuna of social media: Facebook. It's essentially a must-have for businesses. With over 2 billion active users, it's a no-brainer that your target audience is likely on there. Additionally, Facebook offers various tools for businesses to promote their products and services, such as a business page, paid advertising, and even marketplace. And let's not forget about Facebook groups, a gold mine for connecting with potential clients and networking with other entrepreneurs in your industry.

Next up, Instagram. If you have a visually-driven business or brand, Instagram is where you need to be. With over 1 billion active users, it's a hub for attention-grabbing content. Instagram offers various tools such as stories, reels, and IGTV to showcase your products or services, and their targeted advertising options can reach your ideal audience. Plus, the engagement on Instagram is high, making it a great platform to connect and build relationships with your audience.

Another platform worth considering is LinkedIn. If you're a B2B (business-to-business) focused company, or if you offer professional services, LinkedIn is the platform for you. With over 700 million members, LinkedIn offers robust networking opportunities, access to industry experts, and a platform to establish yourself or your company as an industry leader. Additionally, it offers paid advertising options and is great for building authority through thought-leadership content.

Let's move onto Twitter. While Twitter isn't for everyone, it can be a valuable platform for businesses, especially those that want to provide real-time updates or interact with customers quickly. With over 300 million active users, they offer various engagement tools such as hashtags, retweets, and even paid advertising. Additionally, Twitter is great for showcasing your brand's personality and connecting with your audience on a more personal level.

Last but not least, we have Pinterest. If your business or brand is visually-driven with lots of images or videos that are shareable, Pinterest is the platform for you. With over 400 million monthly active users, it's a hub for inspiration, and users come to discover and save ideas for later. Additionally, Pinterest offers paid advertising options and has a high conversion rate for businesses that use it correctly.

It's important to remember that you don't need to be on every social media platform out there. The key is to find which platforms align with your business goals and target audience, and where you can show up and provide value. Remember, consistency is key, so pick one or two platforms that you feel confident in and nail it before considering adding more.
